EDC Practice (Every Day Carry)

Every Tuesday 6-8pm

$10 members $20 non members.

Concealed Carry Weapon(CCW) training teaches you the legal aspects of carrying a firearm. Every Day Carry (EDC) practice builds tactical mindset and skills.

Instructor lead, with peer feedback, EDC practice focuses on real-world defensive skills, teaching gun owners how to handle, draw, and use their firearms in daily life. This is not a "how to shoot" class. You should be experienced and familiar with handguns, prior instruction/experience is strongly recommended. Handgun rentals are available if you do not yet have your own.

To learn defensive skills you need three types of work:

Training you do under the supervision of an instructor to learn the things you should practice.
Practice you do under self-supervision or a training partner/coach to learn those things.
Testing/Competition you do under the supervision of a judge/referee to measure (using time, range, and accuracy) if your practice is effective or not in more realistic scenarios.

General firearm training and practice often focuses on marksmanship and range safety, EDC practice prepares you for high-pressure situations where split-second decisions matter.

EDC practice includes practicing draws from concealment, engaging targets, and moving while staying aware of your surroundings, under stress.

In order to participate in Action Shooting, you must be present for the Mandatory Safety Briefing. The Safety Briefing begins promptly at 6pm. Please arrive early in order to allow yourself time to be geared up, signed in, and ready to go at 6pm.

If you are a first time shooter at The Range, or your waiver has expired, please come early enough to allow time to watch the required safety video and complete the required waiver. We suggest 20 minutes.

If you are unable to attend the Safety Briefing in its entirety, you will not be allowed to participate but you are welcome to stay and observe.

Equipment:

Handgun and concealment garment (if you don't have your own handgun, rentals are available)
Hip holster* that is the correct size for the gun you are using. If Inside The Waistband (IWB) type, it must be rigid leather or Kydex. NO "Sticky", "Ramora", "Uncle Mikes", or other soft fabric holsters allowed*).
At least 2 magazines, and at least 50 rounds of ammunition.

Eye and Ear protection are required, and are available to rent if you do not have your own (rental fee is included in your registration).

* Holster type restrictions based on rapid progress through stages. Soft IWB holsters take up too much time to safely reholster, and slows down the training.

Action shooting practical 2 gun is for the shooters who are ready to push themselves from a competition stand point. Shooters are required to complete an action shooting league level 1 qualifier. Action shooting practical 2 gun follows USPSA safety guidelines.

From scenarios to challenging your shooting skills with differing drills, this is not an event to miss. So bring your rifle/Pistol Caliber Carbine(PCC), your pistol, and the mindset to have fun while preparing yourself for real-world shooting.

Cost and requirements:

Cost: $10
WEDNESDAY LEVEL 1 QUALIFIER COMPLETED. ALL shooters are required to complete a level 1 qualifier before shooting Action 2 gun.
Eye protection and ear protection required
Holster and Magazine carrier required. Holster and Magazine carrier must be designed for pistol being fired. Universal holsters that fit improperly, and any holster that would break a safety rule to draw from are prohibited.
Sensible shoes, no high heels or open toe
Rifle/PCC slings are required.
Round Count: Between 20-50 rounds for pistol, 20-50 rounds for rifle or PCC
If you do not own an AR-pattern rifle or PCC, we have rentals available
Shotguns are not allowed.

This is a popular event and spots fill up fast. If you have not pre-registered, we cannot guarantee you will be able to participate.

Practical 2 Gun Safety Rules

All universal firearm safety rules and Range-specific safety rules apply. In addition:

All persons must wear eye and ear protection at all times, whether shooting or not.
All persons at the match must obey ROs with respect to the shooting competition and safety rules. Any person failing to observe this rule will be removed from the shooting area.
All firearms will be on SAFE or DECOCKED (whichever is appropriate) at the start of each stage.
Shooters may NEVER holster a pistol which is not ON SAFE or DECOCKED.
This match functions on a "Cold Range" basis for safety. Firearms may only be loaded or unloaded or handled in any way (even in a rack) under direction of Range Officers (ROs). Violators face disqualification from the match.
Any discharges in a direction deemed unsafe by the RO result in disqualification from the match.
Accidental/Negligent discharges will result in disqualification from the match.
Any shooter whose firearm muzzle breaks the 180 or is pointed in an unsafe direction shall be disqualified. This does not apply to holstered sidearms, or unloaded, flagged, slung rifles/carbines when transporting.
Any shooter who "sweeps" him/herself or any other person with a loaded or unloaded firearm at any time will be disqualified.
Any shooter who displays disruptive behavior or is abusive (verbal or otherwise) towards any person at the match will be disqualified.
Any shooter found to be or suspected of being under the influence of any drug or alcohol immediately before or during the match will be disqualified, and may be barred from The Range.
Unsafe gun handling may include but is not limited to accidental discharges, sweeping, shooting over confining berms, unaimed or uncontrolled fire, and any other actions deemed unsafe by match staff may result in disqualification from that match.
Dropping an unloaded firearm behind the firing line necessitates that a RO pick it up, confirm it is not loaded, and in a safe manner return it to the shooters bag, holster, or vehicle. Any dropped firearm found to be loaded would cause the shooter to be disqualified. Dropping a loaded or unloaded firearm during the COF will cause the shooter to be disqualified, unless specifically called for in the stage description.
Rifles/carbines must be on safe until sights are on target and it is permitted to fire. For example, moving from shooting position one to shooting position two, you may have your sights on target, but may not take your safety off. When slinging your rifle/carbine, failure to engage the safety is a DQ.
Shooter may unload only when instructed to by the RO and while under RO supervision with the following procedure: Magazine will be removed, action will be held/locked open, chamber will be visually identified as empty, action will be closed and firearm will be dry fired while pointing at the downrange impact berm. Not waiting for the RO or dry firing at the ground or feet is grounds for match DQ.
Do not cover the ejection port of a pistol or rifle with your hand while clearing. Do not catch the round in the air while ejecting, allow it to fall on the deck. Exception: If a round fails to eject properly, the shooter may clear it with the action locked or held to the rear.
