EDC Practice (Every Day Carry)

Every Tuesday 6-8pm

$10 members $20 non members.

Concealed Carry Weapon(CCW) training teaches you the legal aspects of carrying a firearm. Every Day Carry (EDC) practice builds tactical mindset and skills.

Instructor lead, with peer feedback, EDC practice focuses on real-world defensive skills, teaching gun owners how to handle, draw, and use their firearms in daily life. This is not a "how to shoot" class. You should be experienced and familiar with handguns, prior instruction/experience is strongly recommended. Handgun rentals are available if you do not yet have your own.

To learn defensive skills you need three types of work:

Training you do under the supervision of an instructor to learn the things you should practice.
Practice you do under self-supervision or a training partner/coach to learn those things.
Testing/Competition you do under the supervision of a judge/referee to measure (using time, range, and accuracy) if your practice is effective or not in more realistic scenarios.

General firearm training and practice often focuses on marksmanship and range safety, EDC practice prepares you for high-pressure situations where split-second decisions matter.

EDC practice includes practicing draws from concealment, engaging targets, and moving while staying aware of your surroundings, under stress.

In order to participate in Action Shooting, you must be present for the Mandatory Safety Briefing. The Safety Briefing begins promptly at 6pm. Please arrive early in order to allow yourself time to be geared up, signed in, and ready to go at 6pm.

If you are a first time shooter at The Range, or your waiver has expired, please come early enough to allow time to watch the required safety video and complete the required waiver. We suggest 20 minutes.

If you are unable to attend the Safety Briefing in its entirety, you will not be allowed to participate but you are welcome to stay and observe.

Equipment:

Handgun and concealment garment (if you don't have your own handgun, rentals are available)
Hip holster* that is the correct size for the gun you are using. If Inside The Waistband (IWB) type, it must be rigid leather or Kydex. NO "Sticky", "Ramora", "Uncle Mikes", or other soft fabric holsters allowed*).
At least 2 magazines, and at least 50 rounds of ammunition.

Eye and Ear protection are required, and are available to rent if you do not have your own (rental fee is included in your registration).

* Holster type restrictions based on rapid progress through stages. Soft IWB holsters take up too much time to safely reholster, and slows down the training.

Introduction to Handgun

2.5 hours - Course cost: $99

Students will be taught how to safely handle handguns and learn how different types of handguns function. Learning will occur through classroom instruction, demonstrations, dry-fire practice and live-fire practice. Students will learn the fundamentals of shooting a handgun (Stance, Grip, Sight Alignment, Trigger Press & Follow Through), showing improvements in both accuracy and the ability to drive the gun during rapid fire drills.

This class is the foundation of all of our more advanced classes.

Objectives:

Safety brief and review of the 4 Basic Firearms Safety Rules
Overview of handgun types and how they function
4 Fundamentals of Safely Handling and Shooting a Handgun
Loading Magazines & Loading and Unloading the Handgun
Overview of live-fire exercises and range protocols

Note: The rate of progression of the training depends on the number of students in the class and the overall skill levels of the students. Having students safely fire their handguns and show improvement in accuracy, speed and confidence is the goal of the class.

GEAR REQUIREMENTS:

Handgun (Semiautomatic or Revolver)
2 Magazines
50-100 Rounds of Ammunition (Actual live-fire round count is dependent on class progress and comfort with the exercises)
Hearing and Eye protection
Comfortable clothing suitable for standing and shooting. Open toed shoes and low-cut clothing are not acceptable for training. A baseball-style hat is recommended.

*Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the class start time to complete the required range safety waiver and safety video, and to purchase any needed eye or ear protection, ammunition, or to select a rental firearm for use during the class.

Rental Options:

Guns and gear are available for use during the class.

If students need a firearm, the rental is included in the class cost, but ammunition must be purchased for the firearm at The Range LLC. (Note: depending on ammunition availability, students may bring their own factory-loaded ammunition for use in The Range LLC rental guns. NO HANDLOADED AMMUNITION ALLOWED IN RENTAL GUNS!)

*Registering for a class constitutes an agreement to attend the class in which you enroll. After your class enrollment tuition payments are not refundable, but those funds may be applied to a future class with at least one week’s advanced notification.
